Designed to teach you how to successfully use MyMathLab to its maximum effectiveness, this approach has you work hands-on through the program and then assesses your knowledge at the end.

MTTC 102 MyMathLab – Beginning  This course is designed to give you an overview of MyMathLab from a student's perspective, as well as instruction in setting up your first MyMathLab course. In addition, you will learn about the main components of the MyMathLab management system, along with basic customization techniques.  PREREQUISITE: Familiarity with Windows or Mac operating system, and internet browser. No prior knowledge or experience with MyMathLab required.

MTTC 202 MyMathLab – Intermediate This course will focus on teaching strategies using MyMathLab. In particular, you will learn how to use and customize homework assignments, tests, and the gradebook, and manage multiple sections of a course.  PREREQUISITE: MTTC 101 or MTTC 102 or equivalent.

MTTC 302 MyMathLab – Advanced This course will focus on further customization in MyMathLab. In particular, you will learn how to customize the learning environment, add customized content, utilize communication tools, and efficiently manage your course.  PREREQUISITES: MTTC 202 or equivalent. One or more terms of teaching experience with MyMathLab is preferred.

MTTC 101 MathXL – Beginning This course is designed to give you an overview of MathXL from a student's perspective, as well as instruction in setting up your first MathXL course. In addition, you will learn about the main components of the MathXL management system, along with basic customization techniques.  PREREQUISITE: Familiarity with Windows or Mac operating system, and internet browser. No prior knowledge or experience with MathXL required.

MTTC 201 MathXL -Intermediate This course will focus on teaching strategies using MathXL. In particular, you will learn how to use and customize homework assignments, tests, and the gradebook, and manage multiple sections of a course. PREREQUISITE: MTTC 101 or MTTC 102 or equivalent.

MTTC 100 MyMathTest - Beginning  This course will give you an overview of MyMathTest from an educator's perspective, and include discussion of strategies for implementing MyMathTest as a diagnostic tool, placement and assessment tool, or learning environment for refresher math programs. PREREQUISITE: Familiarity with Windows or Mac operating system, and internet browser. No prior knowledge or experience with MyMathTest required.

MTTC 200 MyMathTest - Intermediate This course will focus on teaching strategies using MyMathTest. In particular, you will learn how to use and customize tests and the gradebook, and manage multiple sections of a course. PREREQUISITE: MTTC 100 or MTTC 101 or MTTC 102 or equivalent.

MTTC 204 Custom Question Builder – Introduction This course will introduce participants to the Custom Question Builder (CQB). This innovative tool is available in MyMathTest, MathXL, MyMathLab, and MyStatLab, and allows you to create your own custom exercises for use in homework assignments, quizzes, or tests. You will also have the ability to copy and edit publisher questions from other textbooks. PREREQUISITE: MTTC 200 or MTTC 201 or MTTC 202 or equivalent. One or more terms of experience teaching with MyMathTest, MathXL, MyMathLab, or MyStatLab is preferred.

MTTC 304 Custom Question Builder – Advanced This course will show you more tools to use to create custom exercises in the Custom Question Builder (CQB), such as adding number lines, graphs, pie charts, bar charts, and graphics. In addition, you will learn how to write more complex algorithms to use in your custom exercise. PREREQUISITE: MTTC 204 or equivalent.

90-minute WebEx sessions: All participants view the trainers' computer screen and have the opportunity to interact with the relevant Pearson technology during the workshop. You'll need a computer with a broadband (T1, cable, DSL) Internet connection and a phone to call into the toll-free conference line. Best Practices for Utilizing the Gradebook 

Looking for an easy way to send an email note to all students who scored 95 or higher on the last exam? Or want to send an email message to the students who scored less than 65? Want to drop a student’s lowest score from a group of tests or quizzes? Want to easily identify scores from students who handed in homework past the due date? In this session, you will learn how to take full advantage of many of the tools in the Gradebook that will save you time with course management and student rapport.

This session will explore options in the Homework/Test Manager that allow customization of assignments to follow your curriculum and meet the needs of students. Did you know that homework assignments can be set to automatically penalize late submissions? Do you want to require students to show their work online when they are taking a quiz or test? Attend this session to learn how to utilize the full power of the Homework/Test Manager.

Strategies for Customizing the Learning Environment

This session will show you how you can customize the look and feel of your MyMathLab course to enhance the learning experience for your students. In particular, you will learn how to customize the navigation panel, and add customized content such as documents, images, or weblinks to your course pages.

Strategies for Personalized Learning

Explore options for designing your course as a personalized learning tool that assesses each student’s knowledge and prescribes an individualized question set to help the student focus on the objectives where they need help.

Learn how you can easily create Personalized Homework Assignments that include the features of the Personalized Study Plan, plus the ability to set access controls using available and due dates, prerequisites, and other customizable settings.

Strategies for Teaching Successful Online Math Courses

This session will focus on techniques and tips for designing online courses using MyMathLab. In particular, you will learn how to implement best practices for online learning, such as time management, student orientation, online collaboration, active learning, and communication. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their online MyMathLab course, and share instructional strategies with each other.

Strategies for Using MyStatLab

 

This session will introduce participants to an over view of MyStatLab from both the educator and student perspective, with discussion of MyStatLab features and how they might be utilized in a statistics course. Topics will vary depending on textbooks being used but could include StatCrunch, Statdisk, Activstats, Essay questions, Stat applets, and the Discussion board

PREREQUISITES: Familiarity with Windows or Mac operating system, and internet browser. No prior knowledge or experience with MyStatLab required.
 

Strategies for Using StatCrunch

StatCrunch has traditionally been a Web based software package for analyzing data. However, recent enhancements to www.statcrunch.com have opened the door for online social data analysis, offering you and your students a new and exciting way to interact with data in your statistics course. This presentation will cover the basic use of the powerful StatCrunch statistical software package along with methods for optimizing the use of statcrunch.com in your course.

Custom Question Builder - Getting Started

This session will introduce participants to the Custom Question Builder. This innovative tool will allow instructors to create their own algorithmically generated exercises for use in the MyMathLab, MyStatLab, or MathXL Homework/Test Manager and in the MyMathTest Test Manager. Instructors will also have the ability to copy and edit sample custom exercises.

Registration is limited to 10 participants in order to optimize the session experience.

PREREQUISITES: Participants should have already created a MyMathLab, MyStatLab, or MathXL course, understand how to navigate and use the learning tools in the program, as well as create homework, quizzes and tests.
 

Custom Question Builder - Beyond the Basics

This workshop will show participants more tools to use to create custom questions in the Custom Question Builder. Topics can include creating more complex algorithmic values, adding number lines or graphs, adding pie charts or bar charts, or adding figures to the custom question.

Registration is limited to 10 participants in order to optimize the session experience.

PREREQUISITES: Participants should know how to create or copy a custom question, edit the question, and add the question to an assignment. Participants should also know how to create static or algorithmic questions, with short answer, essay, or multiple-choice student interactions.
 

MyMathTest Strategies for Implementation

This workshop will give participants an overview of MyMathTest from an educator's perspective and will include discussion of strategies for implementing MyMathTest as a diagnostic tool, placement and assessment tool, or learning environment for refresher math programs.  This strategy session is available on request, as it is not offered regularly. TestGen Introduction

This introductory workshop is designed to give participants an overview of TestGen, as well as instruction in creating their first TestGen test. In addition, participants will learn about the different formats available for presenting tests to their students.  This strategy session is available on request, as it is not offered regularly. Summer 2012 Upgrade - New Features

During this session, we will showcase the new features that are part of the Summer 2012 upgrade for MyMathLab, MyStatLab, MathXL, and MyMathTest. Registration is limited to 20 participants in order to optimize the session experience. PREREQUISITES: Familiarity with Windows or Mac operating system, and internet browser, as well as prior experience with MyMathLab, MyStatLab, MathXL, or MyMathTest.
