Teaching With MyMathLab Tours

Sign Up for a Live Online Training Workshop

90-minute WebEx sessions: All participants view the trainers' computer screen and have the opportunity to interact with the relevant Pearson te during the workshop. You'll need a computer with a broadband (T1, cable, DSL) Internet connection and a phone to call into the toll-free conference line. WebEx sessions are limited to 10 attendees to optimize the workshop experience.

MyMathLab and MathXL- Beginning

 

Requires no prior experience with the MyMathLab/MathXL program. This beginning workshop is designed to give participants an overview of MyMathLab/MathXL from a student's perspective, as well as instruction in setting up their first MyMathLab/MathXL course. In addition, participants will learn about the main components of the MyMathLab/MathXL management system, along with basic customization techniques.

MyMathLab and MathXL - Intermediate

 

Assumes participants are already familiar with MyMathLab/MathXL, including the course creation process and basic features. This intermediate workshop will focus on teaching strategies using MyMathLab/MathXL. In particular, you will learn how to use and customize homework assignments, tests, and gradebook, and how to manage multiple sections of a course. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their MyMathLab/MathXL course and share instructional strategies with each other.

MyMathLab - Advanced

This workshop is for instructors who have taught using MyMathLab at least one term, and will focus on further customization in MyMathLab. In particular, how to customize the learning environment, add customized content, utilize communication tools, and efficiently manage your course. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their MyMathLab course, and share instructional strategies with each other.

Exercise Builder - Introduction

This workshop will introduce participants to the MyMathLab/MathXL Exercise Builder (MEB). This innovative tool allows instructors to create their own algorithmically generated exercises for use in the MyMathLab or MathXL Homework Manager and Test Manager. Instructors also have the ability to copy and edit sample custom exercises.

Exercise Builder - Advanced

Assumes participants are already familiar with the Exercise Builder, including copying, editing, and assigning custom exercises; focus is on more complex exercise creation and creating exercises from scratch.

Strategies for Using the Study Plan

 

The newly improved Study Plan is fully customizable down to the question level and has additional tools that allow you to match the Study Plan with your course curriculum and pedagogy. Find out how you can incorporate the Study Plan as an integral part of your course to provide students with additional resources for learning.

Strategies for Using MyStatLab

 

This workshop will introduce participants to an overview of MyStatLab from both the educator and student perspective, with discussion of MyStatLab features and how they might be utilized in a statistics course. Topics will vary depending on textbooks being used and may include StatCrunch, Statdisk, Activstats, Essay questions, Stat applets, and Discussion boards.

 

Strategies for Using StatCrunch

StatCrunch has traditionally been a Web based software package for analyzing data. However, recent enhancements to www.statcrunch.com have opened the door for online social data analysis, offering you and your students a new and exciting way to interact with data in your statistics course. This presentation will cover the basic use of the powerful StatCrunch statistical software package along with methods for optimizing the use of statcrunch.com in your course.

Strategies for Teaching Successful Online Math Courses

This workshop will focus on techniques and tips for designing online courses using MyMathLab. In particular, you will learn how to implement best practices for online learning, such as time management, student orientation, online collaboration, active learning, and communication. Participants will have the opportunity to ask specific questions about their online MyMathLab course and share instructional strategies with each other.

Data-driven Strategies for Course Redesign

You've seen the compelling results from the case studies. Do you want to: know exactly what educators did to track their students' results; talk directly with the educators behind the data; learn first-hand how successful programs increased retention rates, improved pass rates and influenced subsequent student success; learn how tracking your students' results can benefit you and your school?

MyMathTest Strategies for Implementation

This workshop will give participants an overview of MyMathTest from an educator's perspective and will include discussion of strategies for implementing MyMathTest as a diagnostic tool, placement and assessment tool, or learning environment for refresher math programs.

TestGen Introduction

This introductory workshop is designed to give participants an overview of TestGen, as well as instruction in creating their first TestGen test. In addition, participants will learn about the different formats available for presenting tests to their students.

Sign Up for Self Study and Training Certification

Designed to teach you how to successfully use MyMathLab to its maximum effectiveness, this approach has you work hands-on through the program and then assesses your knowledge at the end.

The Beginning course, which is available now, provides an overview of MyMathLab/MathXL from a student's perspective, as well as instruction in setting up your first MyMathLab/MathXL course. In addition, you will learn about the main components of the MyMathLab/MathXL management system, along with basic customization techniques.

The Intermediate course, also available now, focuses on teaching strategies using MyMathLab. In particular, you will learn how to use and customize homework assignments, tests, and gradebook, and how to manage multiple sections of a course.
