Pearson Education XL Player Installation for Computer Lab Administrators
Updated 09/10/2009

May 18, 2009 —Player installation information for the XL MyLabs release, June 27, 2009.

The XL MyLabs Summer 2009 upgrade will take place on Saturday, June 27, between 12:00 AM and 3:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time (4:00 AM to 7:00 PM GMT). During that time, all MyLabs courses (MyMathLab, MathXL, MyMathTest, MyEconLab, MyFinanceLab, and MyAccountingLab) will be unavailable.

If your school used any of these MyLabs courses last term, you do not need to install a new player. As long as the Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0 or later is installed on your campus lab computers, you are ready to use MyLabs courses. (Earlier versions of Flash Player 9 may not be compatible with the new v2 Players.)

You can go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads and install Adobe Flash Player version 9.0.124.0 or later. For direct links to the latest version of the Flash Player, click the appropriate link below:

All MyMathTest programs use the v2 Player.

Download Installer Executables

If your institution uses older courses that do not support the v2 player, you need to download the installer executable available on this page only if you have never installed any Pearson XL player.

Lab computers running the current Pearson players need no further installation.

If you have questions, please contact Product Support.

FAQs

How do I know which versions of the players are currently installed on lab computers?
How do educators and students set up their computers for v2 courses?

In courses using the new v2 Player, a Browser Check utility automatically makes sure that users have the correct version of Flash when they access their course. The Browser Check also analyzes their computers to see whether they have the TestGen plug-in and the other multimedia plug-ins required for their course. If not, users are prompted to install the required software.

How do I install additional plug-ins required for my institution's non-v2 courses, such as the TestGen Plug-in and standard multimedia plug-ins?

Use the discipline-specific installation wizards available online as follows:

NOTE: Individual educators and students can install the XL Player and other plug-ins and players on their personal computers by using the Installation Wizard inside their online course. A link to the Installation Wizard is typically found on the Announcements page.
