I teach Introductory Algebra and my students love MyMathLab. They find the online homework and resources very useful in helping them learn the material. They like the text/online correlation as well. MyMathLab has helped several of my students be successful in math for the first time.

MyMathLab is a great product. My students are very busy, many having full-time jobs, so they love that it is available 24/7. They most often use the videos and the tracked tutorial exercises. I love the abundance of pre-loaded content, plus the ability to customize your own course. I really like being able to create quizzes and tests, picking and choosing problems from a large database of problems that are similar in type, but that involve different numbers upon each attempt. The technical support is superb. [Pearson] is constantly looking to improve on what is already the best product out there.

MyMathlab allows me to post my own handouts, be totally in control of my classes, have direct access to my students all the time. I am capable to monitor my student’s progress and reach them before it is too late for them to recover. Students enjoy unlimited resources offered by MML, and love the instant feedback by the grade book. My students evaluation clearly reflects that students fall in love with MML after the initial reservation about the product and sincerely inquire about who else is using this product, they truly love it. I have gone totally green with MML, and making less trips to the school Print Shop, I have made everything available online, notes, handouts, presentation, and so on. Most students love the animations.

In-class workgroups work really well because all the students in the group are required to have reviewed and attempted the homework in MyMathLab. Since all the students in the groups are prepared, concept reinforcement and collaboration within the groups.

A computer program is endlessly patient and students find the Internet a 24/7 secure and non-threatening environment in which to view lectures that can be stopped, rewound and repeated, as well as pose questions, practice and hone their mathematical skills.

We have standardized on Course Compass and MML for all of our math sections. It's a great supplement for a traditional class and works nicely for online courses as a complete learning environment. The five things I like most about it are (1) it's available with so many books by so many authors for so many courses, (2) it works right "out of the box" and can also be extensively customized, (3) it's easy to use for students--even those with very little or no computer skills, (4) it's Internet-based, available from any computer anywhere any time, and (5) it's free! I'm very happy with the program and would highly recommend it.

The homework system in MathXL [the math engine that powers MyMathLab] is a fantastic way to facilitate student engagement with the course material in a classroom. I have noticed a distinct improvement in my students' overall performance on their written exams. The key to success for math students is practice practice practice, and MathXL provides that opportunity through algorithmically generated problems with excellent videos, animations, and textbook references.

Since requiring MyStatLab for homework and quizzes, my students have been coming to class clamoring with questions. They are engaged in the material! I really like it and more importantly, I think my students really like it. My students now have even more work assigned to them and I almost never get a complaint about the software. In fact I am getting compliments, something I never got with previous homework management products.

I love MyMathLab! It is very easy to use on my part, and my students have been able to register and start with very few glitches. There is a great assortment of problems and all the stuff available online is amazing.

MyMathLab has energized my face-to-face College Algebra and Introduction to Mathematical Modeling courses. Since students are completing homework, receiving immediate feedback, and receiving guided homework assistance, they come to class better prepared and ready to participate in the learning process. I could never imagine teaching College Algebra or Modeling ever again without using MyMathLab.

The MML system provides a user-friendly web tool for my students to understand the course content. We have found a dramatic increase in pass and retention rates since using MML for assigned homework. MML is an integrated and required component in all courses I teach, when it's available.

As an instructor, I have always stressed that students need to practice problem-solving techniques. Unfortunately, many students 'practice' incorrectly and in that way 'learn' a method that either doesn't work or only works on some problems. Unlearning takes twice as long for students, and their frustration level often defeats them quickly. MyMathLab catches errors immediately so students do not practice a wrong procedure. They have immediate feedback rather than the 'odd answers in the back of the book' feedback, and MML gives hints to help jump-start the solution process.

Since I have begun using MyMathLab my philosophy of teaching has changed. It is no longer about me putting on a presentation for a group of students who may or may not be at a place where they are ready to learn the topic of the day. My role has become more of a math “coach”. I can now guide my students through the material, providing individual instruction and motivation. MyMathLab facilitates this role by providing a tremendous amount instructional material. MML has also promoted a more personable relationship with my students. I know more of them by name, am aware of their specific difficulties and/or issues and can follow up with them in a meaningful way.

For a three-credit-hour course, our students spend one hour each week in class and then spend three or more flexible hours each week in our math lab. All of the course assessments are delivered using MyMathLab. We have found our students to be quite successful working in this technology-enriched, active, highly-individualized learning environment.

I tell my students that they can do their MML assignment again and again, with the similar exercise button, so they should get a 100% for every assignment. And guess what--they're doing it!

When my students begin their online course, one of their first assignments is to go to the multimedia textbook and check out the features. The reaction is consistently positive, and many express 'relief' and are much more reassured that they will succeed using MyMathLab.

On my campus, MyMathLab is used in ALL courses from Basic Mathematic Skills to Calculus III (9 sequential courses!). It has become an expectation of the student!

Since I began using MyMathLab for all my developmental courses, I find that student success has improved significantly. In addition to helping students be independent learners, it also gets them ready for 21st century careers by forcing them to interact with a computer. This is one of the goals at our college, and MyMathLab helps achieve success in math as well as in other areas.

MyStatLab has reduced the number of in-class homework questions, which allows more time for lecture and practical application problems.

MyMathLab offers various modes of learning for my students: online text, videos, animations, and help buttons. The program supports those students who are willing to put in the time and effort to acquire math skills. The option to improve one’s grade by re-doing an exercise until correct with guided support available aids in understanding and retention of concepts. My students have nothing but praise for the program with many of them becoming repeat customers for several more levels of math.

Since we have made MML a required component in our college and intermediate algebra courses, my colleagues and I can see two great benefits already: students are actually doing their homework online and turning it in on or before the due date, and instructors can focus more on teaching rather than collecting and grading paper-based assignments.

My students have only good things to say about MathXL. They can get immediate feedback and help, which enhances their feelings of success. It's not a panacea, but I've really enjoyed using MathXL in my classes. I no longer dread assigning homework for credit, because I don't have to face those big stacks of papers!

The majority of our students love MyMathLab. The guided practice on the homework is invaluable to some students. MyMathLab allows us to give a grade for homework and this encourages students to do it. The result is better test grades and ultimately, a higher success rate.

I'm pleased that the program can handle reinforcing the mechanics so that I can concentrate on the concepts. In the classroom, that means that my "lectures" can be more like discussions. Online, it means that my recorded lectures can be shorter and more to the point, so the student is more likely to watch them all the way through. Then when they find out that there are subtle points addressed by some of the homework, they can get specific help where they need it without having to work around my schedule.

My online students find MathXL to be an invaluable aid in their course work. The immediate feedback and guided solutions help them master the concepts. The template driven answer entry format and the acceptance of multiple answer formats puts it far ahead of other programs.

The use of MyStatLab affords the student the opportunity to greatly enhance her/his comprehension of statistical concepts through technologically driven software.

I have been using MyMathLab since 2002. I find MyMathLab to be very powerful, but very easy to use for both students and professors. Many of my students opt to use MML for homework, even when MML is not required. They really like all the resources available to them – Videos, Help Me Solve This, etc. These are all great learning tools. Tech support has been superb.

I like the ease of managing multiple sections of the same class. In the fall we have up to 17 sections running for Beginning Algebra and I manage all of them for content. I have been using MyMathLab since Spring 2005 and love the program!

I have seen that students who really take advantage of what MathXL has to offer are the ones who do better at test time! There is no comparison between Pearson training and support and the competition! When I call or email for help from AW/PH--whether from my rep or from the MathXL faculty support line--I always get the help I need. I have never had an experience of not hearing back from someone.

I started using MyMathLab in Fall 2003 when I developed my online precalculus course. Now I use it for all of my courses – online, on-campus and hybrid: elementary algebra, intermediate algebra and precalculus. My students are always disappointed if their professors in subsequent math courses don’t use MML!

The most revolutionary innovation I have seen as an Educator. In the old days, we’d cover something, then tell students what to do for homework, the next class they turn it in, the class after that we hand it back graded. How did anyone ever learn like that? Almost a week has passed between the time a student worked on a problem, and found out if it was right. MyMathLab provides, among many other things, the instant feedback that is critical for success.

My favorite feature of MyStatLab is that students receive immediate feedback on their homework responses and have the opportunity to correct their work when needed. With this capability, students are motivated to continue to work on the problems until they are successful.

Since the implementation of MyMathLab into our lecture courses, our students' success rates have greatly improved. Being able to work on homework problems and receive immediate help on those that are giving them trouble make a world of difference. Also, students love having the ability to repeat & retry exercises that are difficult for them until they feel confident in the particular skill. I've been using MyMathLab for several years now, and I could never go back to teaching the way I did prior to MyMathLab. With MML, creating homework assignments is no longer an exercise in frustration. If a particular problem type that I consider important is missing from the problem bank, I can take advantage of the custom exercise feature to create my own example. As director of the Math Teaching and Learning Center at UW-Stout, I've been extremely pleased with the results we've been getting since we began using MyMathLab in 2004. After five complete semesters of operation, the Math TLC has served a total of 1600 students in Beginning and Intermediate Algebra. Failure/withdrawal rates have decreased by 62% in Beginning Algebra and by 32% in the Intermediate course. A large factor in this turnaround has been the online homework: we've achieved a 96% homework submission rate, with an average homework score of 94%. The immediate feedback, multiple chances to re-do a new version of missed problems, and the many avenues for online help have motivated these formerly math-phobic students to put in an average of 95 minutes a day on ALGEBRA homework--amazing! The UW-Stout Math TLC was recently awarded a 3-year, $450,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Education via the Fund for the Improvement for Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) program. As part of the grant project the Math TLC team will be running series of workshops to assist other universities and colleges in setting up MyMathLab-based courses and targeted peer tutoring programs in Beginning and Intermediate Algebra. MyMathLab has allowed my students to engage in a fully interactive online mathematics learning environment. This environment allows students to work, and re-work, problem after problem, enabling them to fully grasp concept after concept at their respective pace.
