Erika Northcutt, 18, has not had a math class since she was a junior in high school, more than two years ago.

The freshman at the University of Memphis was anxious enough about college calculus that she considered changing her major.

"I think I can get an A, actually," she says, relief shining in her eyes.

Seven textbooks were awarded 2011 Text and Academic Authors Association (TAA) Textbook Excellence Awards (Texty), which recognize excellence in current textbooks and learning materials. One of those books was Pearson's Calculus by Briggs, Cochran, Gillett and Schulz. If you haven't seen it, you should! Ask your Pearson representative for a copy or create a new course in your MyMathLab account (search for Briggs). And congrats to Bill, Lyle, Bernard, and Eric for their fantastic work!
