New Design for MML and MSL Courses
Instructors will notice an updated look-and-feel in MyMathLab and MyStatLab courses for 2012 copyright titles as they are released. This new, intuitive design offers more direct access to XL pages (Gradebook, Homework & Test Manager, Home Page Manager, etc.) and provides enhanced functionality for communicating with students and customizing courses. Fewer pop-up windows will ensure that students always know where they are in their course.
eText-XL Full Integration
A full integration with the eText platform will allow 2012 copyright titles to be available on the iPad. Users download a free eText iPad app from the Apple app store and sign in using their MyLabs credentials to access a bookshelf of all eTexts they are entitled to. Coming in early 2011, MyMathLab and MyStatLab instructors can share their annotations and highlights with students in each course, and have students click links embedded in the eText to the Do Homework, Take a Test, and Study Plan pages of their course.
Mobile Dashboard
This initial release of a standalone mobile app allows students to log in and review information from the dashboard of their courses: announcements, assignments, results, and progress bars for completed work. This app for iPhones, iPads, and Android phones is designed to promote effective study habits rather than allow students to complete assignments on their mobile devices.
“Ask the Publisher” Link in “Ask My Instructor” Email
Instructors can easily notify the content team of any irregularities with specific questions by using the “Ask the Publisher” functionality in the “Ask My Instructor” emails they receive from students.
Tracking Time Spent on Media
Because students will now have to explicitly click a “Submit” button after viewing the media on their assignments, instructors will be able to track how long students are spending on each media file within a media assignment.
Evaluate Students Based on Two or More Test Results (For MyMathTest)
Instructors or Program Managers can evaluate students’ level of preparation using results from multiple tests. For example, readiness for calculus can now be accessed based on results from both a trigonometry test and a precalculus test.
Assign Multiple Course Options per Student (For MyMathTest)
Instructors or Program Managers can evaluate and advise students based on their results from different tests or groups of tests. For example, a student who takes a test in reading, writing, and math can now be referred to three separate courses.
Increased Maximum Number of Tests per Program (For MyMathTest)
The maximum number of tests allowed in each program will be increased from 10 to 15.
New Product: MyFoundationsLab
MyFoundationsLab is a mastery-based learning environment that diagnoses and remediates student weaknesses in reading, writing, and mathematics. An individualized learning path helps engage and motivate students to master the skills they need to succeed in college and beyond. MyFoundationsLab’s unique cross-disciplinary content and customizable approach will change the way developmental math, reading, and writing is taught.
